0503: Canadiens Freak Out

Cards on the table, weird week. First, I forgot about Canada Day on Monday and posted a Mighty Ducks concept instead. (Sourry aboat that.) Then the Coyotes deal passed in Glendale Tuesday canceling my idea of running some Seattle concepts the rest of the week. Then I remembered yesterday was the 4th of July so I grabbed a last-minute Americans concept. And I thought I'd make up for missing Canada Day with a Canadiens concept today. But it's Friday, so this happened. Ryan Yuck has done some things to the Montreal Canadiens' logos and uniforms. But try not to freak out. Happy Friday.

0496: Return of the Freak Out

We're wrapping up this week of concepts for past NHL clubs with this trippy idea. It's sort of a mix of the Thrashers and the team they became, the Jets — with the old Jets' colors. It's all very complicated and exactly what I look for in a Freak Out Friday post. Kudos to Ryan Yuck on that.

0461: Double Dallas Freak Out

Well this Freak Out Friday falls right in the middle of the double-length Dallas Stars Week. So we've got a couple of Big D oddities. First, Ryan Yuck (that's pronounced YOOK) has this unique design featuring the Dallas Cowboys logo. And yes, cowboy boots with spurs. I wouldn't wear it, but maybe that's just me.

Gary Punzak has gone completely in another direction — going for a red, white and two-tone blue style. It's actually not a terrible look but the logos could use some sprucing up.

0443: Reviving the WHA

You know what we haven't done in a while? A theme week. So I have a solution. This week I'll be featuring all concepts for or inspired by teams from the WHA — the old World Hockey Association. We kick it off with this Indianapolis Racers sweater from Ryan Yuck. It bears the name and number of Wayne Gretzky, who played eight games for the franchise before being sent to Edmonton.

0398: The Coconut Whale

This week's Freak Out Friday is brought to us by Ryan Yuck, who takes us to the American Hockey League for a change. I'll let him explain why.

This is probably the weirdest jersey I have ever done. It's not pretty, however, I find it rather hilarious. Introducing... The Coconut Whale. My inspiration stems from the article you posted surrounding the Connecticut Whale franchise. Basically, at first glance I read, "Coconut" instead of "Connecticut". I thought to myself "what the f***?" until of course, I re-read the title of the article.

I thought it was a comical name for a team so I went along with it and made a concept. Call it a freak out, heck, call it a funny Beer League team. Whatever it is, this jersey will never see the light of day. Haha.
