NCAA Ice Bowl

How about something a little different this Outdoor Saturday? Ryan Haslett imagines a stadium event for college hockey called the Ice Bowl. He's pitted the Minnesota Golden Gophers against the Penn State Nittany Lions for 2014. What do you think?

0670: Around the Juniors

Minor League Week takes us around the Canadian Hockey League today. Junior teams are rarely featured here so this is a treat. The prolific and talented Bastian Schmülling gets us started with a pair. First, the QMJHL are represented by the Quebec Remparts. The Remparts have a history of great jersey designs. This one would not be a departure from that.

Moving to the OHL, Bastian tackles the Peterborough Petes. This team also lends itself well to great uniform designs. No surprise Bastian knocked this one out of the park too.

Another regular, Ryan Haslett, takes us to the WHL. He's created a new sweater for the Lethbridge Hurricanes which features a Hurricane (the plane) in the shape of a hurricane (the storm). Pretty clever.

Finally, Kurt Pittman brings us his rebranding of the Moose Jaw Warriors. He introduces some great new logos to go with his uniforms. I'm really impressed with this set!

0668: Around the AHL

Welcome to Minor League Week on the Concepts page! And just to get really crazy, we're doing individual theme days within this theme week. As you can see, today is about the American Hockey League. Thomas Hopkins gets us started with this clever use of the old Atlanta Flames logo for the Abbotsford Heat. I think a grey and red team would look fantastic!

Ryan Haslett decided to get a little creative with his hometown Toronto Marlies, creating a new crest to go with his two-tone blue sweater. Another solid one there!

A newcomer to the Concepts page, Cody Smith reimagined the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins a little with this wordmark-centric uniform set. The throwback to the Pittsburgh jersey from the '90s saves it.

And we'll wrap up with Avi Stein's idea for a Binghamton Senators third jersey. The "B" works just as well as the "O" there — if not better!

Tomorrow we'll see some of the entries to the ECHL's 2015 All-Star Game jersey design contest.

0645: Mighty Orange

Anaheim Ducks PR man Adam Brady recently confirmed the team will be wearing an orange jersey for their Stadium Series appearance in January. So I've gathered up the top five orange Ducks concepts recently submitted to Icethetics. First up is Brian Brideau. Recognize the inspiration for his design?

Brady Sufat's design has a bit more black, but with the "Mighty" touches, it makes for a sharp look. Though I wouldn't count on seeing that Nike swoosh anywhere near an NHL game anytime soon.

Caleb Fuller has a more retro feel to his orange number with the shoulder patch from the Ducks' third jersey placed front and center.

Brendan Anderson has not one but two ideas to share. Both are inspired by jerseys from the eggplant and jade days — only in black and orange. Personally, I prefer the top one.

And finally, Ryan Haslett gives us this one without any waist stripes. Got any favorites in the bunch? If the Ducks had to go with one of these six jerseys, which should it be?

0616: Music City Freak Out

Yeah, I don't have the words for this one. Obviously, Ryan Haslett was inspired by the "hanger effect" on the existing Predators jerseys. Maybe he went a bit overboard with it.
