Offbeat Friday

It's Friday so here's a little something to mess with your mind. Bret Kenworthy has created a series of unique concept presentations. He writes:

Over the summer, I played with some animation ideas and created these animated hockey cards. To add to the fun, I added a twist to each player's jersey.
St. Louis and Kariya's are a mash up of of new and old where Hamilton's is a combination of the Bruins and Flames jerseys.

My plan is to create my very own 3D hockey cards through the magic of lenticular printing.

UPDATE · Nov 21 · Bret let me know his plan has come to life! Check out his blog to see the printed versions of his 3D hockey cards.

Smoke and Fire

Jamie Robertson resurrects the Flames' third jersey crest from the '90s on a unique grey jersey. I think this would be a fantastic alternate. How about you?

Better Bolts

Here's another brilliant example of how the Tampa Bay Lightning could've gotten their revised "BOLTS" third jersey right. This design by Nick Burton would've been a much better option!

The V Hem

David Kerr tackles the Vancouver Canucks today, writing:

I have always loved the idea behind the "Flying V" jerseys and just felt it was poorly executed. Putting a "V" in the hem stripes is a more subtle execution of the same idea.

Ice Cold Nordiques

Today seems like a good day for a newcomer. Rookie concept artist Pierre-Simon Gagné makes his Icethetics debut with a new Nordiques look. He writes:

Here is my latest concept for the (soon to be?) Quebec Nordiques. Overall "cooler" look and an implied reference to the original logo concept (blue on blue) back in '72.
