Red Wings prepare for final season at Joe Louis

The commemorative logos keep coming this week as the Detroit Red Wings prepare to say farewell to Joe Louis Arena next year.

A version of the new mark, without the winged wheel, will be worn as a shoulder patch on the club's jerseys during the 2016-17 season. The team released mock-ups seen here.

The Wings are using the logo to celebrate their winning ways during their 38 years at the Joe, with four stars denoting their championships as well as the shape of the Stanley Cup forming the negative space of the "O" in Joe.

Overall, it's a nice, clean design that honors the history made in one of the NHL's best known buildings.
