Flint Firebirds coming to the OHL next season

I can't recall a February when so many new hockey logos were unveiled. These things usually tend to happen in the summer. But here we are again.

The Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League were sold in January and will be relocated to Flint, Michigan next season.

On Monday, the team unveiled its new name and logo. Say hello to the Flint Firebirds!

Sadly, this means the Flint Tropics are not to be.

However, that doesn't mean there's nothing to mock. The logos are fine — par for the course as junior league teams go. And SportsLogos.net tracked down a few more alternate marks.

But the jerseys? Oh man, the jerseys.

Do you see it? Look again.

It's the turd burger template!

Sure, it's been recolored and made to be slightly more tasteful, but there's no denying that jersey is based on an NHL sweater so reviled, the owner of its franchise (accidentally) nicknamed it after poo.

I guess Reebok wasn't ready to give up the ghost on that design. (Though they really should have.)

So good luck with that, Flint.

Anyway, that's just my opinion. I'd love to hear yours. What do you think of the Flint Firebirds?
