NHL reveals Centennial branding

On Jan. 1, 2017, the National Hockey League will commence the celebration of its 100th anniversary. And today, the league unveiled elements of its Centennial branding.

Most important, of course, is the 100th anniversary logo. The NHL worked with Fanbrandz to create the mark which I'm sure we'll see it a lot throughout 2017.

It's a simple design with a banner wrapped around the number 100. The style mimics the silvery 3D look of the NHL shield. It all fits together nicely.

In addition, we got our first look at the rather subdued logo for the NHL Centennial Classic — the outdoor game behind held in Toronto on New Year's Day between the Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings.

Like the main Centennial mark, the Classic logo is colorless with that silvery 3D style. It's not the most fun logo we've ever seen for an outdoor game, but it certainly falls in line with the Centennial look.

And finally, this morning also brought us the 2017 NHL Stadium Series logo. This outdoor game will take place in Pittsburgh between the Penguins and Flyers on Feb. 25, 2017.

So are you excited for the NHL's 100th anniversary? Should be quite a year.
