The Big V

This logo has been pretty divisive in the past, but I can't help but like it. It really says "Canucks" in a way the orca never could. Nevill Carney presents a set of jerseys that would make for a great uniform in Vancouver's future. Who's with me?

0650: Senator Stripes

In honor of the official unveiling of their Heritage Classic sweater, the Ottawa Senators are the subject of today's concept post. Nevill Carney likes the Sens' black third jersey from 2011 so he designed red and white ones to go with it.

0250: Barons & Griffins

Scott Markiewicz is back with another AHL concept this week. His take on the Oklahoma City Barons has the club keeping its old Oilers color scheme but with a new striping pattern. It's not bad, but I'm definitely a fan of their new third jersey.

As an AHL Week bonus, we have this Grand Rapids Griffins concept from Nevill Carney. He originally created it last year as a New Year's 2012 proposal.

Now normally, I end theme weeks on Thursday so that we can properly observe Freak Out Friday. However, this week we do have an AHL-themed Freak Out so check back tomorrow for that.

0175: California's Winter Classic

This is so silly it almost seems like it should've been posted on a Friday. But then again, if the Panthers think Florida can host a Winter Classic, why couldn't California? Nevill Carney pits the Kings against the Sharks, oddly, instead of the Ducks. But if this really happened, wouldn't we expect much older jerseys? Like the Kings in forum blue and gold? And the Sharks wearing, well, Seals jerseys?

0124: Superheroes Meet Hockey

It's not a hockey team. It's not even a sports team. It's Iron Man! Day 4 of No-Hockey Week brings us a series of sweaters that might be worn by the comic book superheroes we're all fascinated by. Jonathan Tweedle has designed jerseys based on the a couple of Avengers costumes.

Along with Iron Man, Jonathan provides a sweater for Captain America. Both are cool enough that I could see a minor league team doing a one-off special jersey night with something similar. We already Star Wars jerseys at least once a season.

It's not the National Hockey League, but a whole different kind of league. Nevill Carney designed sweaters for Justice League members Green Lantern, Batman, Superman, Robin and even the Flash (I'm predicting all the Lightning-related jokes you could possibly make and not finding any of them amusing). I particularly like the Batman jersey based on the costume from the '60s TV series.

There are still plenty more non-hockey hockey concepts to come this week.
