Ryan Christensen has created a gorgeous set of new jerseys for New Jersey. It's a far cry from what they've worn for the last three decades — but in a good way.
Brian Brideau's prediction for the Vegas Golden Knights may be the most likely concept yet. His traditional design and use of red trim is almost exactly what I imagine the team will be wearing next fall.
Here's a first — a uniform concept from a guy who draws superheroes for a living! Professional comic book artist Jason Fabok has been thinking about his hometown team, the Windsor Spitfires. I'll let him take from here:
I've worked on some of DC's top comics such as Batman, Suicide Squad and Justice League. I'm also a Canadian and a huge hockey fan (and player). I live in Windsor Ontario where our hometown team is the Windsor Spitfires.
I was looking at the current Windsor Spitfires uniforms and realized how much I disliked their current look, design and feel (though I like the modern logo).
I'm a sucker for old school, simplistic hockey sweater design, so I worked up a few uniforms that I think would make a very timeless, classy feel for team and give them an identity that would last for years.
I love the idea of a shoulder yoke to harken back to the '70-'90s look without making the jersey look to clunky. It would be square at the end to give a more tough, militaristic look (the spitfire was a military fighter after all). On two of the designs I added a stylized "wing" design that extends from the collar below the yoke. I feel it gives a cool nod to the wings of a plane without being too obvious or distracting.
The striping is classic and horizontal, and I used some different patterns with varying widths of lines. In the end I like what I came up with. I think it looks modern and yet captures a timeless, classic, retro feel.
The 2017 NHL Stadium Series jerseys may be a bit drab, but Adam Rickert has an idea to brighten up the proceedings come February. What do you think?
