Minotaurs Jersey Voting: Round 1

The final phase of the IceHL World Initiative kicks off with daily jersey contest polls all the way through mid-September. We start with the Crete Minotaurs!

The Minotaurs bracket opens with 20 submissions, the fewest in this group. As with the Division A jersey brackets, each round of polls will be open for two days. Before you vote check out all the entries below.

Jersey Submissions

This round of polls ends Friday night. Happy voting!

You'll notice I included two polls from Round 2 in this batch. That was just to even things out. Rather than four polls in this round and eight in the next, I decided to do six and six. Catch the next series of Crete polls on Friday!

Submit your Division B jersey designs!

The biggest summer for the IceHL since 2008 is finally winding down. We're on the last leg of our journey — creating jerseys for the last group of IceHL World franchises. We have a creative and colorful set of logos so I can't wait to see the uniforms!

THE RULES

  • Design 1 dark and 1 light jersey using team colors and logos provided. (Equipment such as socks, gloves and helmets is optional.)
  • Both jerseys must be in the same image file (PNG or PDF preferred).
  • Submit your final design to icethetics@gmail.com by August 26.
  • Include your first and last name and email address in the graphic you submit and in the body of your email. (Your name will be displayed during voting but your email address will remain private.)
  • Most important: BE CREATIVE! BE CREATIVE! BE CREATIVE!
  • Seriously! Voters can only choose creative jerseys when they're presented with them.

JERSEY DESIGN KIT

To enter the contest you will need to download the IceHL Jersey Design Kit. Click the blue button on the right.

The Design Kit is a ZIP containing the following files:

  • 4 dual jersey templates (PNG)
  • 15 team logos (primary, secondary and wordmarks for the Minotaurs, Mountaineers, Rush and Royal HC)

Like previous jersey contests, the template provided is strongly encouraged, but not required to enter.

Designers may use any template they choose as long as the resulting image uses a 5x3 aspect ratio (preferably 1600x960 pixels) and includes these elements:

  • Two contrasting jerseys (front and back for both)
  • Full set of numbers and letters (make note of any special fonts used)
  • Optional: socks, helmets, gloves and pants

Useful links: SportsLogos.net | Hockey Jersey Concepts

When customizing your jerseys, you may use any name and number you choose. (Inappropriate names will disqualify your submission.)

Please note that the team logos in the Design Kit are to be used only on jersey submissions. You may not use them for any other purpose.

Final note. Simply submitting your jersey design doesn't guarantee it will be included in the voting process. If it doesn't meet a certain level of quality, I'll give you the opportunity to try again as long as you meet the deadline. (But I always accept far more than I reject.)

DEADLINE: TUESDAY, AUG. 26

I know this deadline is coming up quickly but jersey submissions came together quickly with the Division A teams and we got far more than I expected.

As always, if you have any questions, please ask by email. Good luck to all!

IceHL World: Division B logos revealed!

It's finally time to reveal the winning logos for the rest of the new IceHL World teams!

CRETE MINOTAURS
Logos by Joshua Benkelman

This is Josh's second win this year. Earlier this summer, he won the Hawaii Honu logo design contest. After some comments on his original primary mark, Josh made some adjustments. However, the original design will remain part of the team's logo package and will be made available to jersey designers.

GOLD COAST RUSH
Logos by Tim Schellenberg

Tim has been participating in IceHL design contests since the project first began in 2008. So imagine how he must feel to finally win for the first time! He's definitely paid his dues and his logos will represent the IceHL's first Australian team well.

GENEVA MOUNTAINEERS
Logos by Colin Magee

Colin Magee joins the elite group of designers to enter multiple winning logos during this summer's IceHL expansion. He previously won for the Osaka Samurai. His simple yet sophisticated Mountaineers set is the second single-color design in the IceHL — following the rebrand of the Olympiques last year.

ROYAL LONDON HC
Logos by Matt McElroy

There really is no stopping this guy. It seems we can't announce a batch of IceHL logo contest winners anymore without including the talented Matt McElroy. He joins Benkelman and Magee with multiple winning logo designs in 2014.

Congratulations to all of our exceptional designers — even those who didn't win in the end. It takes enormous skill and dedication just to create a set of logos to submit and I am extremely grateful to have all of you as part of this project.

That leaves only one thing thing. Jerseys! If you're itching to start working on uniforms, stay tuned. The Jersey Design Kit will be available soon.

Royal HC Logo Voting: Final Round

We've reached the final round of the Royal London HC logo bracket. Congrats to Matt McElroy and Justin Nahhas for making it this far!

This final poll ends Saturday night. Happy voting!

The winning designs in all four Division B logo brackets will be announced next Wednesday.

Mountaineers, Rush Logo Voting: Final Round

We're going to knock out two teams on one page today.

First, we'll select the final logo for the Geneva Mountaineers — and they're two incredible designs. I truly have no idea how you guys are going to choose. Good luck with that. Congrats to Colin Magee and Matt McElroy for continuing to be awesome!

This final poll ends Friday night. Happy voting!

But the fun doesn't end in Switzerland. Let's go down under and pick a winning logo for the Gold Coast Rush. Once again, I don't envy your decision. Seriously, how do you choose? Congrats to the seriously talented Colin (again) and Tim Schellenberg!

This final poll also ends Friday night. Happy voting!

All winning logo designs will be unveiled on Aug. 20.

Minotaurs Logo Voting: Final Round

It's time to choose the winning logos for the Crete Minotaurs. Congratulations to Joshua Benkelman and Matt McElroy on going the distance!

This poll ends Thursday night. Happy voting!

The winning design will be revealed after all Division B logo brackets have ended.

World Division A jerseys unveiled!

Branding for the first four teams in the IceHL World has been set! Today, we take a look the winning logos and jerseys together. Enjoy.

Distinctive jerseys designed by Dylan Alexander will represent the Moscow Cosmonauts. This marks Dylan's first winning entry in the IceHL Project.

In a series of landslide victories, newcomer Eric Westhaver handily won over IceHL voters with his Osaka Samurai jersey set, which was strongly inspired by the team's logo design.

The second set of jerseys in Quebec Armada history come from yet another first time IceHL design contest winner, Christian Legault. Christian took a progressive approach to designing the two jerseys with a appropriately nautical theme.

Finally, Daniel Otters became the second IceHL designer to create the winning logos and uniforms for a team with his Stockholm Hammers victory. Matt McElroy became the first to do so last summer with his Philadelphia Aces branding.

Congratulations all around! Now we get to do all this one more time with the final four teams in the IceHL World before the new season gets underway.

Royal HC Logo Voting: Round 2

Mountaineers Logo Voting: Round 2

The Geneva Mountaineers logo bracket continues on to Round 2 now. We have four designs left. Congrats to Colin Magee, Nick Marks, Matt McElroy and Johnny Woods for advancing!

Rush Logo Voting: Round 1

As you can see, the Gold Coast Rush present a unique problem. Since I only received three entries, a bracket would be overkill. Instead, we'll be using a round-robin format to determine the winning design.

We'll do this in two stages. First, all three logos will face each other here in Round 1. That gives us the three polls below, in which points will be awarded based on voting percentage. The two designs with the most points will then square off once more in Round 2.

Logo Submissions

This round ends Monday night. Happy voting!

Check back Wednesday for the Rush's final logo poll.
