The Dallas Stars will host the 2018 NHL Draft at American Airlines Center on June 22-23. The announcement was made Saturday and a secondary wordmark logo was revealed. The full design will be released at a later date.
The new logo shows another progression of the draft logo system the NHL has been using since 2010. Last year, the Chicago edition swapped out the standard five-pointed stars for the six-pointed version found on the city flag of Chicago. The year before, the Buffalo edition saw a tweak of the three stripes.
This year, the five-pointed stars return, but they now lean to the right, following the Dallas Stars' own logo. Other elements of the logo have also been given the 3D-style treatment similar to what we see in the Stars' primary mark.
