Black Out Friday

The Hurricanes currently use a black-on-black shoulder patch design on their third jersey. Brian Brideau took the idea to the next logical step by doing that to the entire jersey. It would be completely illegible on the bright white ice. Happy Freak Out Friday!

Throwback Thursday: Pacific Division

Over the next four weeks, I have a special miniseries to present. Brendan Hennessy has designed fauxback jerseys for 30 NHL teams, imagining how they might've looked a century ago. The task is simple for teams that actually are that old. But it gets interesting for teams that have not.

Look for new Throwback Thursday posts featuring each NHL division for the next few weeks.

Jersey Split

This might be better suited for a Friday, but I really like the idea. Caleb Fuller gives us kind of a two-tone alternate jersey for the Devils. It's a pretty cool idea I'd love to see executed on an actual jersey someday.

Fire Up Another

For some reason, the Flames have been one of the most popular teams targeted by Icethetics designers in recent months. Today I have another standout to share, this time from Jack Gambro. He demonstrates how a modern design can work for Calgary without using black.

Carolina's Missing Identity

Last summer, the Carolina Hurricanes downgraded their uniforms with one of the league's most generic looks. Dallas Kirkpatrick aims to give them an identity again with this set. I like how he's thinking, but the new crest kind of looks like a football to me. What are your thoughts?
