Capital Blue and Bronze

Am I the only one that misses the Washington Capitals' blue and bronze era from the mid-90s? It was such a great, unique color scheme and was never really used to its fullest potential. Apparently I'm not alone.

John Elbertson successfully adapted the Weagle to the old palette in this set of home and road sweaters. But he wasn't alone.

Dallas Kirkpatrick also saw something in those colors, though he came up with a slightly different way of using them. Think these guys are crazy? Or should the Caps bring it back?

Lady Liberty Freak Out

I don't really know what to say about this Rangers concept from Dallas Kirkpatrick. I just knew it had to be posted on Friday. You're welcome.

Penguins Through the Years

The Penguins have worn a lot of jerseys over the years — and there are surely many more to come. But for now, Dallas Kirkpatrick mixes together some elements of the past with the current color palette to create an interesting set.

Caribbean Olympic Dreams

I'll admit, a lot of this week's concepts could've been considered for a Freak Out Friday. But the point was to showcase jerseys for teams that weren't participating in Sochi. So naturally, there were going to be some outliers.

But today is a different story. Dallas Kirkpatrick presents a series of Caribbean hockey sweaters. (So many things wrong about that.) Of the six jersey sets seen above, only one nation has an IIHF membership. Jamaica joined in 2012.

Click through and you'll also find Aruba, the Bahamas, Barbados, Cuba and the Dominican Republic. They are wonderfully colorful and each is stylistically unique. Have to give Dallas credit for the creativity. A great way to end this theme week if you ask me.

Edmonton Orange

If the Edmonton Oilers ever came out with a jersey like this, I suspect it would receive a welcome about as warm as the one given to the Buffalo Sabres' latest third jersey. And that's the only reason why I'm posting it on a Freak Out Friday because, truthfully, I dig it.

Dallas Kirkpatrick, whose crest was inspired by the Oilers' 25th anniversary logo, has achieved what third jerseys were designed to achieve in my opinion. What's yours?
