0375: A Blast of Burgundy

If the Avalanche ever opt for a more traditional jersey design, Bastian Schmülling has just what they need right here. I think this is a fantastic look.

0374: Long Live the Lighthouse

I know the Islanders get featured here an awful lot, but a good concept is a good concept. And this one by Matt McElroy is very good. I don't know why the Islanders have never tried to pursue a lighthouse logo again. Did the 1995 rebranding debacle leave such a bad taste in everyone's mouth that they dare not suggest anything good might have come of it? A third jersey would've been the perfect place to test the waters of a new secondary logo. Instead, we got text on a black jersey — the two biggest no-no's in the third jersey world.

0373: Grey Monday

You don't see a lot of grey jerseys in the NHL. Or any, really. So Nick Burton's Winnipeg Jets jersey would be one of a kind. What do you think?

0372: Cleveland Carp

The Beer League Series hasn't been as big of a hit as I was hoping in its first two weeks. I'll try a couple more but if you guys aren't feeling it we'll move on to something else. Today's concept isn't so much a beer league team (though it could be!) as a custom team created by John Lovato. He writes:

The CHL team here in Denver named themselves the Cutthroats after the Eagles left, and everyone I talked to wasn't too fond of the logo. I eventually made this, and after a bit made it from a cut throat into a simple carp, and placed them in Cleveland. I included a primary, a shoulder, and two jerseys, in the hopes it might be showcased on your awesome site.

0371: Waddell's Winter Classic, Finale

Love it or hate it, this is the end of the Winter Classic series brought to you by the Waddell brothers, Chance and Jake. They created mock throwbacks for all 30 teams. And today, we wrap it all up with the Bruins and Flyers — opponents in the real NHL Winter Classic in 2010.

With this sub-series complete, we have a handful of unique and varied Winter Classic concepts to come over the next few weeks. If you have an idea for a design, send it along!
