Island Beacon

One of the best logos in Islanders history was jettisoned after just two years because it was paired with one of the worst. If we can all agree the fisherman was a mistake, at least let's recognize the lighthouse wasn't. It'd be great to see it again on an Isles jersey some day. Kevin Dion agrees. But is black the right color choice?

Gold and Grey Collide

Another prolific designer of eye-catching jersey ideas is Avi Stein. He has a series I'll be rolling out of third jerseys for a handful of NHL teams. Here, he tackles the Sabres, showing how a gold jersey could work for this team.

As you can see, I'm showcasing non-playoff teams this week and next. Those other 16 clubs are getting all the attention they need right now. Tomorrow takes us to Long Island.

Two-Tone Canucks

Dylan Wonka often has some unique ideas to offer. This one really stuck out to me. Can't really put my finger on why, but it's a great hockey sweater. Could you ever imagine it as a Canucks third?

All About Arizona

The Phoenix Coyotes have played their last game under that name. The next time the club takes the ice, we'll be calling them the Arizona Coyotes. The team has no plans to change anything but the PHX shoulder patch, so Justin Cox decided to make some revisions for them.

For the crest, Justin was inspired by some prototype logos the Coyotes considered with their rebrand in 2003.

A Bastian of German Hockey

The big finale of Bastian Schmülling Week could not be more appropriate. We wrap up on an International Sunday where the German jersey designer tackles teams from his home country — and specifically, the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

In the starring role up top is the DEL club from Germany's capital, Eisbären Berlin. But there's more. The league boasts 14 teams, but Bastian has incredible concepts for 10 of them! So as a bonus, you can find them all below.

I hope everyone has enjoyed Bastian's work as much as I do, but I think we can all agree it's time to get back to a little variety in our featured artists.
