0357: Waddell's Winter Classic, Part 13

We're coming down to the end of the Waddell brothers' long-running concept series. This week we get the Capitals and Sharks, as requested by Bastian last weekend.

Normally, I let you guys pick the next pair of teams. But since we're down to just four remaining, I'm going to take the reins in the home stretch. Check back next Saturday to see which two teams will be next! (By the way, I'm betting there will be someone who doesn't read this and posts their request anyway. Let's see if I'm right.)

0356: All Out Arizona

If the Phoenix Coyotes spend another season in the desert, Glendale wants the team to change its name — to the Arizona Coyotes. So Ryan Yuck figures, why not go a step further and drape them in the state flag? Forget an homage on the shoulder patch, go all out Arizona!

By the way, Ryan asked me to point out that his surname is pronounced "YOOK." So before you start in with your "very clever" yuck puns... don't. It's a Freak Out Friday. Live with it.

0355: Sabres or Swords?

This one is sort of a mix of old and new. Matt Marczel says he "was inspired by the old Cinncinati Swords of the AHL during the '70s" for this concept. Their classic look would still work today. But then so would Buffalo's original jerseys from the 1970s. If only they could lose all the extraneous silver piping and fix the blue.

For reference, here's a look at the old Swords jersey.

0354: White and Black Hawks

Nick Burton brings us a couple of Chicago Blackhawks concepts today based on the black-and-white color scheme the club wore during its first eight years of existence. They are pretty sharp and, if you ask me, pull off the colorless palette much better than the Kings do.

0353: Minnesota's Wilderness

Patrik Gustafsson takes a stab at the Minnesota Wild today. It's an interesting look that borrows elements from the primary logo to create the striping pattern for the bottom of the jersey.
