The Phoenix Coyotes become the Arizona Coyotes next year and with that brings an opportunity for an identity refresh. At the very least they could adopt a new third jersey. This one from Ryan Haslett borrows an unused logo from the club's 2008 third jersey prototype process.
As promised, Islanders Sunday starts this week. After two months of Seattle concepts, I wanted a place to showcase some of the intriguing Isles concepts that have been showing up in my inbox since the Brooklyn move was announced.
Justin Wiltron is first up. Naturally, we had to start with a black and white one, but don't worry, this new theme won't just be a repository for monochromatic musings. We'll get plenty of blue and orange in here as well. There's some really neat ideas in store.
After we learned the Capitals will host the 2015 NHL Winter Classic, Bryan Dyck started thinking about who their opponent should be. How about the Carolina Hurricanes... as the Hartford Whalers? But as much as I loved Washington's Blue and Bronze Age, I'm not sure I can see them in anything other than the classic red throwback. Plus, it would make sense up against Whaler green. What's your take on this Winter Classic proposal?
Red Week wraps up with this Canucks set from Rob Coulter. He wants to see Vancouver revert back to red, black and yellow — but he likes the modern Johnny Canuck logos. Thoughts?
By the way, I hope you guys noticed that during Red Week I made a concerted effort to feature some new designers. Five of the artists featured in the last six days are first-timers. Two weeks ago I had a theme week that featured a bunch of our prolific regulars, so I figured now would be a good time to squeeze in some fresh blood. Keep all the great concepts coming!
