0402: Reviving the Nordiques

Revival Week continues with Michael Baumann's take on the Quebec Nordiques. Just bring them back already. What are we waiting for?

0401: Metropolitan Mania

Feels like time for another theme week to me. And for a trip down memory lane. Once again we resurrect dead pro hockey teams. Today, it's the PCHA's Seattle Metropolitans via Adam Hainsfurther. I particularly like how he's given each color its own distinct name — sort of the way the Blue Jackets did.

0400: The Buffalo Buffalo

Matt McElroy helps us celebrate a milestone today — 400 consecutive days with new concept art right here on Icethetics. His entry today into the Beer League Sunday series is the Buffalo Buffalo. You're welcome, western New York.

0399: Winter Classic Flashback

Prior to the 2012 NHL Winter Classic between the Flyers and Rangers — August 2011 to be more precise — Simon Stenstrom submitted this concept for the big outdoor matchup. Like me, Simons's a bit fan of the Lady Liberty logo — which I recently learned is still in use on the team's road practice jerseys, apparently. He also liked the Quakers concept that floated around a lot that year but preferred not to alter the Flyers' logo too much. It's a pretty solid look and just the kind of thing we like to see on a Winter Classic Weekend.

0398: The Coconut Whale

This week's Freak Out Friday is brought to us by Ryan Yuck, who takes us to the American Hockey League for a change. I'll let him explain why.

This is probably the weirdest jersey I have ever done. It's not pretty, however, I find it rather hilarious. Introducing... The Coconut Whale. My inspiration stems from the article you posted surrounding the Connecticut Whale franchise. Basically, at first glance I read, "Coconut" instead of "Connecticut". I thought to myself "what the f***?" until of course, I re-read the title of the article.

I thought it was a comical name for a team so I went along with it and made a concept. Call it a freak out, heck, call it a funny Beer League team. Whatever it is, this jersey will never see the light of day. Haha.
