Classic or Modern?

A few weeks ago, we got a glimpse at what the NHL is planning for the 2015 All-Star Game. Christian Legault has a simple question for you: Classic or modern? Pick your poison.

Five by Steven Grant

Nine hundred consecutive days and counting! That's how long you've been able to find new fan-submitted concept art here on Icethetics. It's a big milestone so we're celebrating with the subject of a recent theme week where I featured five designs each from some of our most prolific artists. This time around we get a handful from Steven Grant.

By the way, in case you're keeping track, we should hit our 1,000th post on Nov. 14.

Worthy of Winnipeg

Jake Miller is certainly making a name for himself on the Concepts page this year. What do you think of this look for the Winnipeg Jets?

The Kings by Hand

We're two days away from 900 consecutive days of concept art. Today, we have new work from our talented friend Morgo Uxbridge, who prefers pencil and paper to computers. He's put together a sharp new set for the Kings. If they have to stick to the black and white color scheme, this is how they should do it.

It's All Black and White

For a few weekends, we're revisiting past Sunday concept series. Today, take a look back at a time when we all worried the New York Islanders were going to be wearing black and white when they moved to Brooklyn. Here's a trio of concepts I never got around to sharing.

First up, Jason Pires created a set of home and road sweaters for the Isles. As black and white jerseys go, these aren't half bad. I particularly like the wave pattern on the pants.

Concepts page rookie Reagan King offers up a third jersey modeled after the old Brooklyn Dodgers. While it might sell, I see them doing something more original.

Finally, Bryan Wrede — two rookies in one day! — has another third jersey option. But it's conceptual similarity to the Rangers might make it a non-starter.

Icethetics concepts will be presented in color again tomorrow. By the way, we're three days away from the 900th consecutive concept post! Any ideas on what I should do to celebrate on Wednesday?
